Our Eaux de Cologne
Each Eau de Cologne La Belle Mèche is a little olfactory pleasure in a bottle: a well-placed spray and you will leave a beautiful perfumed trail behind you, wherever you go.
Use of the Eau de Cologne
But you have to use your perfume properly. To use it correctly, it is advisable to know where to place it, in order to benefit from its scent as long as possible. Thus, as for an eau de toilette or an eau de parfum, the warm zones of the body are to be privileged: hollow of the neck, wrists... You can also spray your perfumed water on your clothes to enjoy its olfactory notes for longer!
Composition of our Eaux de Cologne
The fragrances of our Eaux de Cologne are fresh and subtle, as their composition differs from other types of perfumes. Unlike eau de toilette and eau de parfum, Eaux de Cologne are less concentrated in fragrance. Generally, there is between 3 and 6% of concentrated solution (perfume), on an alcohol base. This results in a light, fresh fragrance that is perfect for both men and women. It is also ideal as a first perfume for young people. Colognes are therefore very mixed perfumes, with which it is possible to be perfumed every day, very easily. With top notes often composed of citrus fragrances, they are quite fresh and easy to wear. They are also lighter and more volatile, making them perfect for the summer months, when everyone dreams of a fresh scent. All our perfumes are made in Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. Each perfumer who works on these colognes is required to follow very precise specifications, so that you can fully enjoy your fragrance: ingredients, quality tests...

The virtues of Eau de Cologne
Because if Eaux de Colognes are known for their scent and their olfactory power, do you know their other properties? In fact, originally, these perfumed waters were known for their therapeutic properties. People drank them or rubbed them on themselves. It was believed to have many virtues, such as curing ailments or ensuring longevity and good health. Eau de Cologne was thus considered a medicine. Then, in the 17th century, it gradually conquered Europe with its fresh and light fragrance, which met the expectations of the time.
The history of Eau de Cologne
The history of Eau de Cologne is fascinating and its origins date back to the 17th century. Its invention is attributed to an Italian perfumer: Jean-Marie Farina. When he settled in Cologne, he began to produce an "Eau admirable" also known as Aqua Mirabilis. It was produced from a mixture of alcohol and essential oils. But unlike the perfumes of the time, which were used to camouflage bad body odours, Jean-Marie decided to create fresh and light scents, which ended up seducing the nobles and rich Europeans. His descendants continued to produce the original water, but many other houses also produced their own colognes.
