Focus on our wellness candles

Among the reasons for using a scented candle, there is of course the question of well-being. Who hasn't wanted to pamper themselves with a good scented candle? In our most intimate moments, lighting a candle can bring a real feeling of well-being. For example, when taking a bath, or during a quiet reading time in the evening, it is pleasant to be able to enjoy the flame of a small candle.

That's why we have developed a range of candles especially for your well-being: our Apothecary candles.

Our range of wellness candles

Our Apothecary candles are specially designed to take care of you. Unlike our scented plant candles, they are not intended to scent your home and create a pleasant olfactory atmosphere. Indeed, they do not contain perfume from Grasse, mixed with soya wax (without paraffin), but only essential oils. These have been carefully selected by a certified aromatherapist to offer you the most effective synergies. In this way, they will help you to relax, to concentrate, or even to drive away mosquitoes. A real aromatherapy treatment.

What is aromatherapy?

Linguistically, aromatherapy is a word composed of the prefix aroma meaning aroma and therapy meaning care, cure. Thus, historically, aromas and plant essences were used to treat the body and everyday ailments. These aromatic essences are also called "essential oils".

Essential oils are volatile essences, obtained by steam distillation of plants. The plant / spice / etc. is extracted from the odorous components that will allow us to obtain powerful fragrances. There are hundreds of them, based on flowers (rose, lavender...), leaves (eucalyptus, tea-tree...), roots (vetiver...), woods (cedar, sandalwood...), resins (incense...) and many others. These ingredients are also used in the manufacture of 100% natural perfumes.

Although essential oils have been used as medicines since the 11th century, it was in 1910 that the Lyon pharmacist and perfumer René-Maurice Gattefossée discovered some of their properties in France. He burned his hands badly during his research and ended up applying lavender essential oil to his wounds. The results surprised him and he ended up devoting part of his research to the properties of these different oils. It was partly thanks to him that the word aromatherapy entered the common language.

The properties of essential oils are numerous and depend on the oil used. Thus, they can be: anti-inflammatory calming stimulating soothing aphrodisiac insect repellent etc. They can also be used in different ways. But today, we will concentrate on its use in the form of a candle with essential oils.

The different types of wellness candles

Indeed, there are nowadays all kinds of candles related to well-being. Here are some of the best known.

Relaxation candles

Who hasn't dreamed of relaxing in a bath after a busy day at work? That's when relaxation candles come in. With essential oils to soothe and relax you, it will help you release the tensions of the day. That's why we created our Relaxation candle, a natural candle with Petitgrain and Bergamot essential oils, to help you relax. With its citrus scent, you'll love burning it.

Candles for meditation

For those who practice yoga or meditation, you know that it is not always easy to get into the right conditions: fatigue, ambient noise, difficulty in concentrating... Our Meditation candle, with Patchouli and Frankincense essential oils, will help you create the ideal atmosphere for your session. Indeed, these oils are known for their neuro-stimulating properties and favouring the meditative state. They are also oils that give off quite powerful and smoky scents.

Massage candles

There are also massage candles with essential oils. To use these, simply burn the wick and wait until the vegetable wax has melted by about 1 to 2 cm. Then extinguish the candle and wait for the melted wax to cool. Finally, the warm wax is poured onto the skin and the body is rubbed with the liquid. This is a special use of wellness candles, which requires a candle that is suitable for this purpose. Our Apothecary candle range was not designed for this use, so be careful not to use it on your skin!

Now you know everything about our wellness candles: which one will you like?
